Inauguration of OCT Machine at SSSIHMS | Dec 22, 2022

Loving Sai Ram and Greetings from Prasanthi Nilayam. With the Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, a new state-of-the-art Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine worth Rs. 60 lakh was inaugurated by Sri RJ Rathnakar (Managing Trustee, SSSCT) at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram in the presence of Dr Gurumurthy (Director, SSSIHMS), Dr Anuj Sharma (Senior Consultant & Head, Dept. of Ophthalmology) and other senior staff members on this holy Thursday. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a noninvasive imaging method that uses reflected light to create pictures of the back of your eye. It can be used to diagnose and manage diseases like diabetes-related retinopathy and glaucoma. Manufactured by Carl Zeiss, the OCT machine has many advanced features like Enhanced Depth Imagine (EDI) through which the machine can analyse beyond the layers of the retina. Also, the system comes with a Fast Track feature which helps reduce the eye motion artefacts, thereby improving the accuracy of the diagnosis. Interacting with staff members, Sri RJ Rathnakar encouraged them to provide the best treatment to the patients (especially to the poor who cannot afford these facilities) and that the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust will continue to enhance and upgrade the services at Swami’s Institutions.
